Technology Issues

Olive, Edwards, & Cooper sustains a thriving technology practice. From the founding of the firm, we have represented and consulted to major tech players.  We have assisted Travelocity.com and Sabre in a coalition effort to ensure fair competition in travel reservations.  We led an antitrust-related initiative to keep the playing field even – taking our case to key legislators on Capitol Hill and opening doors at the Justice Department.

In the post-9/11 world, we have arranged demonstrations of new technology for congressional staff and lawmakers, Homeland Security officials, and others. Our firm has achieved favorable business results for our clients’ technologies. We have helped influence the direction of policy decisions.  And we have used our business development acumen to direct clients to form business development and capture teams, and strategic alliances and business arrangements.

For one technology client, we secured budget resolution language and appropriations report language (in the face of a moratorium on earmarks).  We have taken our clients’ case to congressional committees and the Office of Management and Budget concerning problems in the implementation of the E-GOV Act. And, of course, technology firms face challenges protecting intellectual property in the age of digital piracy and liability issues arising out of the use of their products and services for homeland security applications.  Few firms have the expertise or understanding of the SAFETY Act as that which you will find at Olive, Edwards, & Cooper.
