Congressional Witness Testimony Preparation

One of the most important aspects of influencing lawmaking is the testimony of witnesses at public hearings. But delivering expert testimony before a congressional committee or other policymaking body is more than making an oral presentation. It also entails providing fuller written testimony that becomes part of the legislative record. This testimony may influence not only committee members and staff, but legislators who don’t serve on that committee, future Congresses, courts, and the public.  Olive, Edwards, & Cooper can help clients prepare written testimony that will effectively communicate their perspective on an issue.  We will also help clients prepare to deliver an oral summary of the full testimony — an important element to keep in mind, as you may have as little as five minutes to summarize your written testimony.  We will help you be ready to field questions and to make the key points from your testimony that you need to register.
